Why IMA Was Born

The Past

Indonesian diaspora organisations began developing independently in different countries from approximately 2000 onward.

The Turning Point

The Indonesian Diaspora Conference in Türkiye in February 2025 brought representatives together and became a major milestone toward establishing a common international umbrella.

The Present

IMA was established to provide the organisational framework for continued international collaboration.

  • 2000 onwards

    Development of Indonesian Muslim diaspora organisations and communities in different countries.

  • 2000-2024

    Growth of local organisations, community centres, education programs, youth activities and international relationships.

  • February 2025 – Türkiye

    Indonesian Diaspora Conference; representatives agreed on the importance of stronger international collaboration.

  • 2025

    Development of the IMA organisational concept, governance framework and international cooperation.

  • 2025 – Türkiye

    World Youth Conference.

  • 2026

    International Madani Association Ltd formally established and registered with ASIC in Australia.

  • 2026 – Indonesia

    World Youth Conference.

  • 2026 onwards

    Development of National entities, Branches, affiliated relationships, governance systems and international programs.

Vision

To build an integrated global organisation that maintains Islamic identity and preserves Indonesian cultural values, while fostering the younger generation of the diaspora to make positive contributions to local and international communities.

Mission

  1. Develop greater integration and cooperation between participating organisations under a common international framework.
  2. Preserve Islamic values and Indonesian cultural identity, particularly for younger generations of the Indonesian diaspora.
  3. Empower diaspora communities to contribute positively to their local societies and the wider international community.
